Default Front caliper differences?

hey guys. Bought an 03 Mustang that may have a sticking front caliper. Snow on the ground so haven’t torn it apart yet. Anyway, local parts store lists 03-04 calipers as different than 99-02. They do not have and cannot order a left side 03-04 caliper. There are both sides for a 99-02 in stock. Measurements are the same. Material is the same. They look the same. What’s the difference? Can I run 99-04 calipers?

Comparing the two on RockAuto, I have to agree- they look 100% identical. But unless there's a typo in the specs, the threads for the hose are different.

On the info pages, I'm seeing a M10 x 1.0 inlet on the A-1 CARDONE 18B4723 (1999-2002), and a M10 x 1.5 inlet on the A-1 CARDONE 18B4839 (2003-2004).

If that's the only difference, then I don't see why you couldn't just go ahead and use the '99-'02 calipers, provided that you replace the banjo bolt with one that has the correct threads.

Yeah, I actually work at O'reilly's so, I just grabbed the two 99-02 calipers we had in stock and ordered in the one available side of 03-04 we could get, put em side by side, they are 100% identical to each other in every dimension other than banjo bolt thread. The brake pads are the same part number, as are the rotors, brackets, and even brake hoses. So, I bought the 99-02 calipers, bolted em on the car with the 03-04 hoses and they work and fit just fine. Not sure why Ford went from M10 1.0 to M10 1.5 but as long as you use the banjo bolts that come with the new calipers you're golden. Saved me a lot of waiting and the 99-02 calipers were even like $15 cheaper

Good to hear! I'm not sure why you couldn't get a direct-fit caliper, but at least you know what to do now if a customer comes in needing that one.

Yeah, not sure what the deal is with that. 55 of one side in the warehouse, 0 of the other. Atleast it worked out with the earlier stuff
