Default Auto shifter handle

Couple questions. I have a new shifter handle. Do you have to remove the console to disconnect the overdrive wires? And, does the push button on the side just pull off? new one doesn't have one.

Thanks!

Yes, it all has to come apart, and unplug, then reverse for install...

The "T" handle is on with a TORX screw. When you remove it, the "T" handle will
pop upward, there is spring for the shift lock button (left)... Then it comes off as
ONE piece, but you unplug the O/D button (right) wires to remove completely.

You're saying it doesn't have, WHICH button? Without a picture, can't help...

I was wrong about the button so disregard that. What I need to know is after I take the screw out and left the handle up, how do I disconnect the the wire...it's appears to down inside the shifter and no way to reach it. Pic attached is of the new shifter handle I just got. Thanks!

You just unplug the O/D button wires when you take the old T-handle off.
I know it may be hard to reach, may need long needle-nose pliers.

Yeah, I thought that but I can't even see where they are attached. Dust cover in the way and don't know how to get it out of the way. Thanks for the reply!!

The dust cover, blind, and PRND321 are part of the assembly, and it comes off.
There are tabs that hold that on, you can release them and pull the that off. I took
mine off to paint it.

This shows the "T" handle already off, but you can do it AFTER this bezel is off.

THEN, you need to put the key in, turn to run, put the ER brake on, and pull the
shifer all the way back to "1" to reveal the plug for that harness:

Added another PIC to my post... In those pictures, his blind is broken, so he
was able to take the "T" off before pulling the entire bezel off. He is replacing
the blind.
