Default Trick Flow steam holes on pre 1972 302 Ford

Installation Instructions for Trick Flow heads require drilling steam holes in block deck. The heads themself have no passage for these holes. It would seem odd to have theses holes dead end at cylinder head. Good place for leak itself. I called Trick Flow tech (Howard) and he said these holes were not necessary. Also spoke to Alternative. racing and they said these holes weren't' necessary. Any thoughts?

Default Recant. Steam holes

After comparing stock heads with Trick Flow I now can see that suggested 8 holes in block surface mate with head openings . So disregard the above statements and drill away. Sorry for the confusion! !
