I started up my 98 GT today after installing the new intake manifold and all of the plugs etc. While it was running, I was checking for coolant leaks and noticed this small connector. I don't recall disconnecting this little guy and he's not in any of the pictures I took of the engine before diassembly. I also don't see any obvious locations for him to plug onto.

What is this connector? Is it essential? If so, where does he go?

Honestly it looks like the wire that plugs onto the oil pressure sensor but it could be the ground that plugs onto one of the studs for the fuel rail or intake.

I read a review on these dorman manifolds and it mentioned not having a spot for a fuel line ground but didn't include any specific details or work arounds. Is it essential? Or should the car be safe to operate? Otherwise I'm not sure what to do about an alternative grounding location.

As an updated, I tried threading one of the original intake manifold double sided bolts into one of the nearby empty mounting spots on the new intake manifold and plugged this connector onto it. When I turned the key, the car wouldn't even crank. So clearly it has an effect of some sort.

Any chance anyone on here can take a quick peek under their hood and see if they can locate where theirs plugs into? Or a source that might have a diagram I can navigate through? I want to finally start commuting with my mustang after all this time but also don't want to cause more damage.

that is supposed to go onto the drivers rear fuel rail bolt, its a ground. like you stated you used a dorman intake (which sucks) and they supply their own bolts with no provision for that wire. Find a way to ground that wire onto a stud. it just pushes on
