I have no cats or no smog pump and no EGR valve.....

Even if the light was off i would never pass a sniffer.

I never had them use a sniffer on my old 98 Firebird. They just plugged into the computer, read some settings, and I was on my way.
The only car I've had them dyno with the pipe sniffer was my old 87 Mustang GT.

I haven't had my current Mustang long enough yet. My inspection is still current.

I did a google search and it said Harris county has emissions testing. Are you in harris ? And a 98 would have obdII and my 95 has OBDI....I can get my check engine light off....That wont be a problem.

Yup, I've been in Harris county since I've lived in or around Houston. Close to 6 years now. Harris county stretches quite far.

Do they do any visual inspection for emissions equipment ? I have an O/R H pipe and no smog pump and no emissions equipment...
I guess they only give you a month to get everything changed over, so i gotta get on it pretty soon....

I can only tell you that I've never had them look underneath the car or hood on any of my vehicles. That doesn't mean they won't.
Sorry I can't offer any more help that that.

i dont run cats either. i pass fine. as long as the CEL is off, and all parameters of the OBD2 system is at "ready" status (do not reset ecu , or drive 50miles after ecu has been reset), then u'll pass. i dont know a shop who does a sniffer test on newer cars.

I drove a 94 for a few months before it had some electric issues and was deemed totalled (airbags deployed while driving without impact).
I just spoke with my father who had kept the car for a while before I drove it, and he said he doesn't remember any pipe sniffers being used when it was inspected.
