Default Brothers buying a car, Its a Speed Density car?

Its a 87 GT speed density car.. What all is the differnce from speed density and maf? how hard is it to change MAF, hes only looking for 300hp.. I just dont know nothing about speed density or anything.. its going to be a DD also..

well he doesn't have to change to maf to get 300hp . with sd the cam must keep 114 degrees lobe seperate , injectors stay at 19# . to get to 300hp with sd this combo will work well,gt40 heads , gt40 intake ,xe270hr cam(comp cam) and 100 shot of the spray will get you well over 300 hp .
maf conversion you will either have to go to a boneyard and get a maf ecu(a9l)mass air meter and wireering harness and rerun all that or buy the frpp conversion package (pricey)to convert .
the gt40's can come off an 5.0 explorer to save some coin .
the diff between the 2 is sd works off of preset air to fuel ratio settings from the factory and maf reads it as it is being forced into the engine .

the intake can be his prefference as the cobra and tf's can be used to , cause i will admit the gt40p intake is blah far as appearence .

ok great.. Thanks for all the advise and stuff. Was worded perfect..I was also reading in a nother thread, SDstangs are faster stock for stock with maf stangs.. but as longs he can do the normal 5.0 bolt on's and some spry thats all he wants..As far as the smog polution stuff getting rid of all that wont hurt nothing since its a speed density car.. also whats the right way to get rid of all the smog stuff... like as far as taking out wires or vacume lines egr valve that stuff.. or is it worth it?

it is alot of work seeing how you have to plug off the openings an the back of the heads and stuff , i just ran a shorter belt to by pass the air pump(duralast #770k6). but far as the other stuff cai ' ud's , h/c/i he will be fine , the only problem i have had so far has been with the ud's as my alt doesn't want to keep up at idle but other than that all the rest have been just fine .

on ur u/d pulleys, did u put the u/d pulley on the alternator?.. i had this problem with my notchback.. i put the stock pulley on the alternator and it fixed it..

now a buddy of mine has no u/d pulleys and eliminated his ac and smog and his dose it real bad when he revs it, it go's to like 300rpm and some times stalls out..
