Chirping noise under hood?
i drive an 88 mustang 5.0 its an lx and im having some trouble with a noise. I drove it today about 18 miles away from my house and everything was fine i recently had a water pump put in it and before i left i checked the coolant looked normal and no noise. As i decided to leave where i drove home from i started my car and it made a whining noise but no crank over so i turned the key back tried to start it again and same problem. 3rd time was a charm started it up and drove off about a few miles down the road started hearing a chirping noise coming from the passengers side of the engine listened close and maybe thought it was a belt but it wasnt and i mind you it was fairly quiet at the time. Started driving more and it got louder as the car would come to a stop it would quiet with the down shifting. Got even louder when i got home i parked the car and listened for it it sounds like it is coming from the passengers side near the headers and i just put bbk shorties on there called a buddy and he said it might have been a blown header gasket but i think other wise. PLEASE HELP ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!

if its what im thinkin your starter is loose and is connecting with the flywheel had the same problem about 2 months ago the top bolt was gone and the bottom was loose i drove about 6 mi. home but the flywheel or starter was messed up just tightened up the stater and it was fine

Yea i got it all figured out took it to the local shop put it on a lift and found that the starter was hanging on by one bolt and in fact was rubbing on the fly wheel so its good now just having some idling issues but i heard thats kinda common with those cars no bggie summer is rolling around and its time to do a serious engine rebuild on it
