problems after puttin t5 in auto car
alright..i'm a new member and it sounds like everyone here pretty much knows their stuff except for the guy that flushed his oil with water.anyways i have an 88 mustang convertible. its junk but i got plans on rebuilding the car will post pics later on. well the first thing i did was ditch the auto and put a t5 in the car. i had to get a buddy to rewire the neutral switch so i could start it with the key. well ever since then the charging has been screwed up. we put a new alternator on it and it didnt fix the problem. we wasn't getting any voltage to the battery. so we ran a jumper wire. well after that it fried to batt. so i went to a buddy with a that has a mustang he races. he had his old alternator so we put it on cause the new one was putting out like 40 volts. well it worked for a lil while and now its not charging. also at idle my car will rev up and then back to idle and surge and its running real rich like the fumes hurt when breathed. so let me know what ya think and i will post back so maybe we can figure this thing out. thanx love the site

the computer has nothing to do with it sounds more like the wiring ur buddy did to the safety switch.
u should have just made something to push the spring down
did u change any wiring under the hood?

ok...c i bought this car 2 years ago.well i traded it to a buddy of mine. well while he had it i put the t5 in it.thats when the alternator messed up. well what i didn't know is that he bought an alternator. but instead of it being an alt for 88 he got one for 98 which is alot diff. i took it to autozone today to have it checked out bc he bought a new one. well that was a year and a half ago and no warranty. but we put a new regulator on it and its fine. problem is i went to salvage yard and got harness for 98. but i can't find how to wire in the new harness..any body got any help
