well as far as I know, the fuel pump wiring is all inside the car. The relay is under the driver's seat. I think it just sends 12v to the relay when you turn the key on, and that turns the pump on, I don't think that's tied into the EFI harness at all.

Does the computer need to be retained? I Don't know if any charging system or gauge functions run through the computer.

Basically I guess, can you guys tell us everything that can be removed from the factory system when swapping to carb? Thanks!

Hell, I plan on going with all mechanical aftermarket gauges anyway.

the harness that runs the injectors shouldnt interfere with the fuel pump i believe there is a plug before the firewall that removes the harness that controls the injectors.

Can I get rid of the computer? I'm guessing it probably has some control on the gauges but I'm not sure, any input?

the gauges are run directly off sending units to my understanding, but ur CEL and other lights may not work...

I have been told that you may bot get consistent fuel pressure by knocking the efi unit down to carb friendly psi. I am planning on doing this in my stang but will be consuming a little more fuel (408 stroker) and plan on running a sumped tank (60 dollars) and a holley fuel pump (120.00) with built in regulator. You would have to run new fuel lines as well.

I have a quick question about this as well, and it wasn't really said very clearly in these posts, but CAN I use the stock distributor as long as I leave the cpu in the car on my carbed car....I have a performer rpm intake and a 650 holley for my ride....hoping all I need now is a FPR

If you were to use a different distributor, add a carb and an inline fuel pressure regulator, what functions would be left for the computer to control? Will there be any interference with alternator regulation if you were to remove the computer? Are there anythings besides the fuel injection neuances that would be effected? Would you need to make a new tach pickup?
