Factory SD is more twitchy when modding than factory MAF. It just how they designed the systems and software. Aftermarket SD systems though usually are much easier to tune than factory MAF setups, in large part because they can be set to use alpha-n under a certain rpm for better idle and low speed control.

I don't see why it shouldn't. What is your 60ft.? My Linc LSC weighs 3800+ and does the 1/8 th in the 8.57-8.60 range. Still run the orig short block(60,000 +miles) w/a set of ported E7 heads and a Crower 15511 cam. I still use speed density. The car can be a little tempermental (surging)when cruising at low rpm, but otherwise no driveability issues.

you can mod a sd car just fine, just gotta be careful on the cam that is used so as it doesn't affect the vac signal to the Map sensor
