Going with Blow Thru Carb- Need some advice from any of you GURU'S out there please!!
Hey Guys, Need some good advice here. I tore my EFI setup off my 93 Saleen. I want to go bigger on my setup so I am going with a BT Carb. I will tell you a little bit about my set up so you guys know what I am looking at here. I was running a Downs Intake with Gt-40 Lower. 83 low impendance injectors with a 90 MM mass air meter. I had a chipped computer that was altered for the injectors. I got sick of the set up because sometimes it would run awesome and other times it wouldnt run at all. After calling all the best shops in the area the only advice I got was to rake over 5K and put a Fast EFI Management system on it, or put a BT on it. After thinking about it I am going with the carb set up mainly because it is the cheaper route to go and I will be able to tune it my self. My engine combo goes like this- Its a 351 1974 Truck Block with a Forged 408 Stroker kit. Nothing but the best stuff. TFS "R" 225 Race Heads, Custom Kook 2" primarys dumped to 4" collectors. Ysi Vortech with a Cog set up running 10 pounds right now. All MSD ignition(6BTM). I am obviously going to go with a single plane intake like a Vic Jr. Heres where I need some advise!! I have been doing a little research through word of mouth at a local dragstrip and everyone is telling me to buy a nice used 850 HP and send it out to CSU in Cali to get it converted. Everyone is saying that they own the Blow Through Market. I called them up to get a quote and they said they could do it for 400 big ones which doesnt sound half bad. Problem is though I started looking at brand new ones from Jegs and I could get in to a brand new Demon 850 Blow Through for under 600 bucks. Should I buy brand new or find a nice used one and send it out. Or does any one else have any other shops that they are fond of? I really need some good advice here guys!! I also need to know what distributor I need to switch to because I am going with Carburation now. If any one has the correct Ford and MSD numbers for me that would be awesome. Also any other tips needed for my set up would be awesome!! Thank you guys!!

I've heard nothing but good things about pro systems, but they aren't cheap

BTW, the difference in buying one from jegs vs a specialty shop is that the shop will set it up for your application. You'll have to tweak the one from jegs yourself.

My buddy has a blow thru setup, and he first went with a demon, and hated it,had all kinds of problems, sent it back they "fixed" whatever was wrong and he still had a lot of tuning to do.Actually $400 for a CSU sounds extremely cheap and not right. Pro Systems are some very quality carbs and as stated above, when you go with a company like this they will set it up according to your build. Wont be spot on but you wont be chasing all kinds of problems either. Just remember, you get what you pay for.You can run your same ignition box with this distributor http://www.summitracing.com/parts/MSD-85805/. Good luck with your build.
