Default 82 5.0 quits running when vacuum advances?

Just as soon as the carb sends vacuum to the distributor advance it dies...the advance is working properly no binding no leak in the unit....engine runs fine until the advance gets the slightest amount of vacuum?

So just to clarify, with the vacuum line disconnected and plugged, the car runs and drives good ?

The wires between the reluctor (pick up) and where they leave the distributor are broken. As soon as the breaker plate moves it opens the circuit. Pull the cap and rotor, look at the wires inside the distributor and apply vacuum (suck on a hose attached to the dist) and observe. Also roll the wires in your fingers, you'll find the broken one. Replace the pick up, done.
