Got smoked by my friend's GSX
 

Just sharing a little race story I had last weekend.

I was heading back from the club with my friends 1997 Eclipse GSX. We came to a red light and I looked at him and signaled a run. Even though I knew he was running a 16G turbo with other mods (and had over 300 whp) I figure my V8 would put up a good fight on this night with a clean dry road.

Light hits green, his AWD kicks a car and 1/2 ahead before I even get going and before I knew it the car length just kept getting bigger between us. OMG I got smoked bad... Oh well, my car is still engine-stock and i'll be going up against him some other time.

Never underestimate an AWD 4banger ^_^

Nice loss though, go get some b00st for your ride and try him again. The 16G is not that big of a turbo, if you were putting down similar or slightly higher numbers with a turbo / supercharger you would walk all over him on the top end.

i agree. nice loss. the eclipse/talon awd's are quick if you build 'em right. not something to underestimate. do some engine work, and you could probably take him. even just a h/c/i would probably put you right beside him or in front of him a lil bit. might have to play catch up, but, you could probably do it.

while i was behind him I noticed that those 2G Eclipse's have a rather sexy butt! lol:D

And in that quote lies the key! "if you build them right". Not many are, but the ones that are sure are quick.

AWD is the SH** Don't expect to beat one out of the hole unless you got slicks, suspension and know how to launch. Even that might not be enough to beat one from a dig. Do some mods "about 260 whp worth" get some slicks, learn how to lauch it and then race him again. Would probably be real close then:D
