That's something else we were talking about. He dug up a Car and Driver article where an auto GT ran a 15.1 @ 93. I've never seen a properly driven SHO run as slow as a 15.7. Also the last body style, even though it has a V8, it is slower than the 5-speed V6s because it only comes in auto.

I have never lost to a Probe. The GTs weren't even close. What would your stock probe gl run in the 1/4 anyways? Low 15s? I don't think so.

my car is by no means fast or no where near it..im just sayin i stuck witha SHO i dont know the year or what was done to it besides maybe flowmasters....from a roll 1/4 he had a length on me.....and i know a 1st gen probe GT would wipe a SHO all up and down the 1/4

Are you kidding me? I ran into a group of Probes at hwy100 (cruise spot by me) and I raced a few of them. Beat a newer V6 GT, older turbo 4, and all rest wouldn't race me after that. What do the "1st gens" run, hp, weight, etc?

my friends old sho ran a best of 15 flat in the quarter. he had susp work, pullies, and a short shifter. these cars aren't meant for the quarter mile, they are hwy cars. if he races the gt on the hwy, be aware the sho is going to be right there.

my dad used to have one of these cars, they are real nice for what they are. there kinda like the svt version of a taurus, they have leather climate control and a bunch of other nice features, on top of that there not slow either. but yea a stock for stock race would have the GT in front by one or two lengths. remember kids, torque wins races not horsepower.

o btw the first gen sho's are the fastest because they are the lightest. they got slower as years went on especially when ford put the v8 and only automatic transmissions.

That is true, I am even with a stock WRX from 40-80 and I start pulling after 80. It is no competition off the line though. The SHO motors make all their hp high up in the rpm scale, so they are more difficult to launch. You either spin or bog, it is hard to get it right. I would have liked to race a GT, but I am trading my SHO for a Mustang so I guess I won't be able to. Anyone from WI with a stock 99-04 GT want to run my brother with a SHO?

im sure they run low 15's
dunno the wieght...but im sure that it would get out in front at the beginning of the race and you wouldnt be able to run it down
