Anybody here ever go against a 335i? They claim 300 HP with twin turbo's. Can beemers be modded like stangs?

I haven't raced one, but I will tell you that it's only a matter of time before someone makes a reflash to up the boost and it will be way over 300hp.

I just did some research for you.

BMW is claiming 0-60 in 5.3. And a top speed of over 150mph. Stock for stock, your gonna have your hands full. Looks like drivers race.

If the beamer has a tune or chip, your more than likely gonna see tail lights.

Hope this helps!

Oh well. At least the GT can beat the 328i. Right? Please say yes. My wife has one and it would suck to be chasing her...

When all's said and done you could take the thousands upon thousands of dollars you saved buying a mustang and destroy him... Of course, you'd still have to spend even more for the heated seats, nav system, and toggle switch that activates the ball massage.

ok the 335i has 300 hp WITH twin turbos.....can you only imagine what a twin turbo mustang gt would do?!?!? even if the bmw had a tune i think a twin turbo mustang gt would destroy it...assuming you're going in a straight line

We're talking about an inline six vs a V-8 though. Yeah, if you twin turboed the GT it would scream, but if they threw a twin-turboed V-8 in the 335i, it would probably smoke the GT. Gotta keep these things in perspective.

One of the Senior Mgrs. where I work is a huge BMW track guy. I talked with him about the 335. The turbos in it are so small that you are not going to get much more power out of them without replacing them and supposedly this requires welding. In other words you are looking at 10k dollars to get any real power out of it. I'm sure Dinan will create a few things for it but the E46 came from the factory so well tuned that increases through tuning are minimal, I would expect the same from the new 3 series. On top of all this my other friend has an E46 M3 and I put about 3/4's of a car on him... straight line of course... and it has 333hp. They'll need to get 45 hp out of the 335 to hang with a slightly modded GT.

I have fed the tail lights to two E46 m3 coupes at this point. I ran one twice from the middle of second to the bottom of fourth and took him by three-four cars.

Second one was two cars at the end of third.

I drove a new 335. Fast car. But it felt like a baby compared to the stang. The mustang is violent compared to that car. It has that wierd feeling that all smalldisplacement enginedturbo cars have. I hate that.

You're either putting more to the wheels than I am or the bimmer didn't down shift far enough. They trap 105 and from a roll it's all about your trap speed, granted you get into the correct gear. Either way, it's always nice walking an M3!
