Im cruising around and a Z28 pulls up next to me. I rev at him, he rev's back. Im thinking to myself "MUST GET TRACTION". The light turns green, I sit there and the tires just spin through 2 gears. Needless to say, there is not much to this story. The camaro got me off the line and I didnt have time to catch him because about 300 feet before the 1/4 mile the lanes go into one because of road construction. I was gaining on him the last 50 feet, but it was not enough. He beat me by about 1 1/2 cars.

I'm not afraid to say I got beat. I went to my buddies house because I was pissed I couldn't get traction and asked him to show me how to get a good start. He showed me and now im hoping I see that Z28 again.

I went from a 02 Honda Civic EX to a 04 GTO. The horsepower difference is crazy. I have drove only one other fast car and that was my dads 91 5.0 GT with about 450hp. I never really got to get on it because it was being broke in. After it was broke in he sold it. So I never really had the chance to learn how to get a good start with a manual tranny.

Needless to say, next time will be different, thanks to my buddy.

I watched a few miserable 04 GTO runs at the track the other week.. coupled with how I hate they way they look and the fact that they are not anywhere performance wise that I think they should be I can not stand them...

I've heard a lot of people say this...their must be a lof of these cars that are just plain *** slow. GMHP got one to run consistantly in the low 13's bone stock. IDK, maybe everyone who buys them sucks at driving.

Yeah... I wrote a post a while ago and that guy COULD NOT get any traction. They have serious problems I think. I would say its a huge lack in engineering.

Low 13's out of a factory car...that's not too bad. It's got the drivetrain of a Vette...so it's not engineering.

Well engineering doesnt stop at the drivetrain. It also determines suspension. The way the car sits and the way its suppose to squat when it takes off.

The Vette is pretty close to perfection when it comes to engineering. They definetly needed more put into the GTO IMO.

Eh, I've never driven one and don't plan on buying one. As far as I care, it can die, die and go to hell.
