Default VID: My buddy's LS1 Camaro pulling a wheelie

From last night. I was way back in the staging lanes and I thought I saw his hood stand up straight, but figured I saw it wrong. Until I saw this vid of it.[:-]

Now that's what you need to get your SS to do, JD.

He needs to get that wheelie action under control. He's losing a good 2 to 4 tenths standing up like that.......as evidence by the fact that the Fox he was running walked right past him for the better part of the first few hundred feet, and then he just got up and walked past him like nothing afterwards.

Still tho................it looks frickin cool.

Is that first for your buddy? If so, if I were him I would have had to go clean my shorts. That's gotta be a scary and amazing feeling all at the same time. Wow!

and thats not just a grip-induced wheelie, he really pulled the tires of the ground and held it there, and then the rest of the way the front tires and the track seemed to be trying to avoid each other.......SICK.

torque is not force x distance anymore. torque is now defined by that video.

Oddly enough, he had the car on the dyno yesterday morning and he made only 445 hp and 406 tq.[&:]That's only 2 hp and 6 tq more than when it was stock displacement, stock bottom end. It obviously has some bugs to be worked out.

I could make more power by simply hooking up my nitrous kit, but I couldn't launch anything like that. Pullied Cobras with no other mods are also making more power. He has a drag setup that makes the most of the power he has, been pulling the front tires sincethe motorjust had a big camand stock heads (not that high though).
Man, I've turned into a pretty big nutswinger.

I'm also curious as to why he's making so little torque compared to his rwhp. He's running bigger cubes now?......is it a big stall auto? I've seen a few LS1 'maros pushin bigger numbers (but running similar ET's) that wouldn't pull the front wheels that high. He's gotta have either some damn good weight reduction up front.............or the stickiest f**kin tires known to man.[8D]

I think it'd be a great car for those wheelie competitions. But I think he should tame that front wheel lift while he's ahead. It'll only take one time for his tires to have a little lateral mishap and he'll be eating railing. Besides which, like I said, he'd see a good ET improvement if he could get the thing to launch straight and level. I think what you really want in a good drag car is a launch like an F-18 off the deck of a carrier.............not a launch that looks like the space shuttle.

I would definitely be cleaning up my shorts, the seat, and probably the back seat. I have no words for how scary that really is. Just WOW.
