91 firebird vs 89 mustang?
hey guys, some guy wants to race me with a 91 firebird.
I dont know anything about these at all. I know its auto and its in pritty fair condition and sounds pritty good. also he said it had a 12 bolt rear end, did that come stock?
All I have done to my car is flows, short shifter, 3.08s, cai. my clutch slips a little
Who would win? I dont know who would win and I dont know if that year of firebird had the 305 or the 350 anyone know?
Who would win in a 0-100 race?
Im not sure if im going to race him or not because my cars haveing a wierd problem with the steering but if i did who would win?
thanks for your input

Your cars need to be safely streetable if you are going to even drive it.
91 Firebird. Not a Formula or Trans Am? A base Firebird will probably have a 305 TBI, is thats anywhere near stock, you should have him covered, granted your running right.
Find out the exact model, and what he has done to it, 12 Bolts are serious hardware.

A 305 TPI would be a interesting race with your car. A 350 TPI would have the upper hand, especially on a longer race.
Find out whats done to it.
Also make sure your fix your aforementioned problems. Make sure you MAF senor is clean, your air filter is clean, clean throotle body, new fuel filter, proper tire pressure, good ingition components, and any other basic stuff.

Using a tamper-proof bit, T-20, I think, remove the two screws holding down the square black senor on the mass air housing. The housing is grey metal located right behind the air filter. Remove the senor, and carefully clean the two filaments with a q-tip and rubbing alcohol. You can buy MAF cleaner, if you like.
Get a can of teflon-safe thottle body cleaner, like CRC. remove the air intake tube. The throttle body is bolted to the intake manifold. You can remove it, or leave it on. Spary the inside of the T.B and wipe it out with a paper towel. Next pull the throttle back with your hand so the blade open ups. Spray all the gunk with the cleaner and wipe it out with a paper towel. An old tooth brush can help you out. Clean the edge of the blade, too, so it will seat good. Good Luck.

If he really hasa 12 bolt rear, I wouldn't count on the engine being stock. Stock 1991 305's and 350's are in the 230 hp range, and more than a match for a Fox with 3.08's and a bad clutch.
That being said, most old F-bodys run like crap, especially the TPI's, and there's a good chance he's full of sh*t with the 12 bolt rear.

It takes a lot of work or money to put a 12 bolt in a torque arm car. That being said,It's either a lie or you could be in trouble. The fox bodies ruled the streets pretty much until the 93 LT1 cars came on the scene. If your clutch isn't REAL BAD,I think you should have it.I like a lot of different cars but the early TPI cars were not impressive.
