Upcoming Races; E46 M3, Carrera S, LS1 Camaro, Modded 350Z's Camaro's and T-bird
Hey Guys,
I enlisted in SLR 2008; Street Legal Races 2008, which are the ONLY legal races here in little Suriname. Just a closed off street, with everything on standby, ambulance, police and the fire department.
I automatically enter the "All-engine" class 3.0liters to 5.7liters.
So far there are only 8 cars enlisted;
2006 Porsche Carrera S - Stock
2003 BMW E46 M3 - Stock 6SPD
2003 Nissan 350Z - Headers/Exhaust/Tune/Short Shifter/CAI 6SPD
2004 Nissan 350Z - Mods unknown 6SPD
Unknown Year; Iroc-Z Camaro: Mods unknown
1998 Chevy Camaro: LS1 Stock
Unknown Year; (90's??) Ford Thunderbird: Heavily Modded (N/A)
And Lastly ME; 2007 Ford Mustang GT; 91 oct Brenspeed Tune, Borla L/T Headers, Cat-less Xpipe, Borla Exhaust System, Steeds Underdrive Pullies, C&L CAI. 3.31 Gears/AUTO, 18" MB Wheels on 245 Federals (Borrowed).
How will i fare against these cars? This is my first time participating in a legal race event and there will be around 6000-8000 spectators (They only race once a year so it draws large crowds) so i really do NOT want to lose that badly.
The races will be on the 5th of october, everything will be recorded. What times should i get on a unprepped track with those mods? What times do you expect from my competition? Who should i be worried about?
Major benchracing i know, i'm just really anxious..

I would think that from the info posted, you will be right in the thick of the cars. The unknown modded ones are of course unknown. They could be packing some serious power. Personally, I would try to get some DRs for the event. Remember that the launch is most important and on an unprepped street, it is crucial. Good luck.

I don't think you'd have time before the races start, but I'd say +1 on DRs...Maybe gears at some point? Looks like you ought to do decent though. Make sure you practice launching on surfaces similar to the ones you'll be racing on so you'll know what you're doing. Good luck!

I think you'll do pretty well, but like Zoie said there are some unknowns there. Does the all-engine class allow you to run nitrous? If so I'd consider a shot to put you over the top. If not, definitely sticky tires on the smallest rims you can find I would think would give you a huge advantage.

i say your biggest threats are going to be the Carrera S, the T-Bird, and the Iroc-Z. the T-bird should put up a good fight (depending on mods of course), and the Iroc could end up being a 14 second wonder, or an 11/12 second monster (a 350 can make a LOT of power N/A)

The event was postponed to next Sunday due to some issues with the police and safety.
I'm borrowing my friends MBWheels 18" on 245 Federals. The All-Engine class does not permit turbo/nitrous/superchargers/slicks/methanol.
I've seen the Porsche fly a few days ago, i dont think i'll have a chance against him. Then again i've never driven my car on 18's nor with a higher than 87 tune (i'll be running my 91 for the first time).
JD1969 - I live in South America Suriname, this annual race is about it for dragracing here, so it can get pretty crowded. You can check out www.st-motoring.com if you want to see 2006's race..
Other than the cars i've mentioned, one of the Honda Civic Type R's from the 1.3liter - 3.0liter class was put in our class due to his never ending list of mods and mainly because for some reason he really wants to run on his Slicks... (he's ALL MOTOR) Typically this wouldnt be allowed but since he'll be the "underdog" on the class they allowed it
