Default Terminator V.S. Trans-Am

A friend and I went to US 131 motorsports park last night. It was his first time ever at the drag strip, and he has only been driving a manual for a month max. He was having huge issues with launching. Only got 3 runs in, with a best of a 13.8@110 with a 2.6 60ft, and missing third and fourth gear.
Anyway, on the way home, an svt pulled into the gas station that we were at. Followed us out, and onto the highway. Looked to me to be a bolt on cobra, saw that the exhaust was dumped underneath the car, which leads me to believe at least headers/full exhaust. The guy REALLY needed to learn how to race. Wouldn't go any slower than 70-80. Would drop a gear, lunge a couple times, and then take off. I tried to tell him to wait multiple times, but he would just take off and we would have to play catch up. We would SLOWLY gain on him every time, but from that high of a speed, we were reaching 130 very quickly and didn't want to go a lot faster. Final race we finally timed it right so that both of us took off together, and we got maybe half a car on him, and then **** hit the fan. Lights started flashing, lost power steering and smoke from under the hood. Got under there and no more serpentine belt. Woohoo, tow ride home, lol.

damn, that sucks... at least it wasn't a radiator hose that blew pouring anti-freeze everywhere and your motor over heated.

Happened to me a few times lol (93 RX-7)

A 70 roll though? wth was up with that dude??

YES, PROOF! You just empowered all of us mustang drivers to use the excuse that we would beat an LS1 because it will just break down! LOL

Getting towed home sucks man, glad that it wasn't anything catastrophic.

Mods for the trans-am? 2.6 is horrendous, he's got at least 1 second to improve on that ET with his 60 time alone.

^^^ He doesn't have an LS1 unless he swapped it in.

OP, whats done to the TA? Sure it wasn't an N/A 1999/2001 Cobra?

The '99/'01 Cobra's were naturally aspirated and make about 265rwhp. This would be a good race for a bolt-on LT1. Here is what one looks like.

You referred to the Cobra as a Terminator which is an 03/04 Cobra. They make 370+rwhp and would be tough race for an LT1, unless it has h/c/i or a blower or spray. Here is what a 03/04 Cobra looks like.(Different front and rear bumper among other things.)

I can't remember what's done to your vehicle and you may have plenty under the hood to handle a Termi and know exactly what a Termi is. Sorry for wasting your time if thats the case.

Your right he was talking about his buddies TA. Although its still up in the air whether it was LS1 or an LT1 but considering the trap it must be an LS1. Given the fact that his buddy trapped 110 and miss shifted twice, I'd say it could hang with a Termi.

OP, sorry for the doubt.

Lol, wow I left out some very important information. The Trans-Am is a 2001, with an LS3 in it. Just got it tuned about a month ago and it put down 434 to the rear wheels on a low reading dyno. It was definitly a termi, I never saw it super well, but I heard the unmistakable whine of of a roots blower. And yes, he just might be the worst driver that I have ever seen, lol. Terrible 60ft, missing shifts all over the place, I couldn't believe how bad it was. Should easily trap 115 when he gets the driving down. As far as the way home, we had already replaced the tensioner on it once cause it was worn, but we put another one, and apparently hes making too much power for the tensioner. Lost the belt at about 110, and looked for it for about an hour, couldn't find it. That was kinda scary walking backwards down 131 at night looking for the belt.

EDIT: Love the pic of the flying cobra, lol. The 99/01 cobras are the same 4v 4.6, just without the blower correct?
