Default Kerns vs 02 Camaro SS with 6.0 Iron Block

Well tonight I raced 02 Camaro SS with a 6.0 Iron block. We just did 1 run from 40-120mph. His mods are lid, ls6 intake, patriot stage 2 heads, cams, mid-length headers, catless x-pipe, and mufflers. His car Dyno'd 407rwhp so we get out on the highway and go from 40 and off the hit he jumps out a 1/4 of car and then we stay pretty even through 3rd, shift into 4th and he slowly starts to pull on me. Let out at the top of 4th with my front bumper at his rear tire. Was pretty good race and I have no shame in losing to that car.

Always makes me lul.

Pretty weak dyno numbers for him. Of course, dyno's really don't mean much. Nice run.

I believe he said his heads are made for a 5.7 and his cam is a mild cam. Sorry for the cams comment, I'm aware that as a push rod motor he is only sporting 1 cam. I just get so used to typing cams.

Nice run.
My buddy has an '02 SS with a 6.0 iron block stroked out to 418 c.i. with a Texas Speed MS4 cam (.600+ lift) and AFR heads. He laid down 513 rwhp (although like Derek said, dyno numbers sometimes don't mean much). When done right cars with that setup can easily run 10s on the motor and 9s on the bottle.

That's a tight race considering his mods. You did well.

I made 360RWHP/370RWTQ on a Dynapack dyno which is about 390RWHP/400RWTQ on a Dynojet.

Good run Kerns! You've got a strong runner. Wonder why he's running those heads instead of some that are better suited for the block he's using?

Guy bought it from an auction and it already had the 6.0 iron block in it along with most of his mods. I know he recently rebuilt the transmission on the car and he is wanting to do a Fast Intake and a new TB soon. Think he will eventually go with 6.0 heads but I just don't think its currently a priority. Don't take my word as fact, but that's the feeling I got from talking to him.
