just another BS race coming back from the gym tonight between some generally stock and slow sedans lol... this time a guy followed me out of the gym in a black (I think 2000+) grand prix GTP

he got in line to get out of the lot behind me and got into the 4 lane road almost into my trunk, rolled into the other lane and punched it... so I punch it trying to shut down the flyby, his flyby carries him to put a fender on me and then my third gear starts to even the odds... then we brake for traffic

then low and behold we catch a light... advancetrak goes off and select shift mode on (on the lincoln this DOES make the shifts faster and crisper contrary to what other people think)

off the light I chirp and he blares his tires for a good half a second...

by the end of first gear I have a car on him

through second his car seems to pick up pace but only enough to where my car doesn't pull him as easily...

through second gear I get a 1/4 car more

through third gear it seemed as if his car looses it's steam and starts to tire out

through most of third I put another car on him and the gap started to widen the faster we went... at this point we were going 80-90MPH and I let off with a sturdy brake

he gives me a wave to say "good race" and I let him go ahead of me as I didn't want to race him the whole way back home lol

IDK, slow cars, but it's still fun when you race cars of an identical class IMO

nah, 2003 got a little boost in performance... people have been seeing as low as mid 14's @ 97-98MPH out of the second gens bone stock, a CAI and tune will make them have an edge on a new edge GT... as it sits right now a 5 speed basic bolt on new edge GT will only pull 1/2 car on me 40MPH-120MPH, which is all I can ask for from the gold boat I suppose lol

a first gen 3.9L V8 LS has 252 BHP @ 267lbs tq.

a second gen 3.9L V8 LS has 280BHP @ 286lbs tq.

you have a stock NPI GT that would lose to my gold daily driver, the car my gold daily driver beat and a stock camry... at the same time... yeah, think that's pretty lame too


if I come right out and say my daily driver is a slow boat, and your car is slower than it... you're in the wrong section guy xD

I love the noobs that get their panties in a wad in OT and then fail harder by following me around, always good for a laugh

depends on who you talk to really... some people call it a refresh, some people just call it a V8 LS regardless not knowing the difference... over at the lincoln forums we got into the habit of just saying "1st gen V8 LS" or "2nd gen V8 LS" so we know exactly what is being talked about due to the pretty big improvement in performance given the same engine and somewhat similar design

the V6 is the same way, 1st to 2nd gen shows a decent gain in power... although not as big as a jump with the V8 models

Good run. If the gearing in the GP is anything like it's N/A counterpart 3800 cars, 1st gear goes to 50MPH... Makes for a "good" 30 MPH roll racer haha.

I like LS's, sharp cars. I would like to drive a 3.0/5 speed car.
