New STI and 07 G35-S Sedan
The wife and I were both off work today, so we rode around town together today and took care of some errands. On the way back home, we were traveling down a 3 lane city street. Although its 3 lanes, its VERY tight. I've had my work truck mirrors slapped a time or two if that tells you anything. Traffic was moderate, with a gap here and there. Anyway, a 2008+ year STI flies by us pretty quick and gets our attention. It sounded pretty good, and let off a little turbo waste as he came by. I tried my best to catch a light beside him, but just couldn't pull it off. Instead, we ended up directly behind him at a stoplight. Better than nothing I guess. I was 99% sure he was going to launch it since he was pumping the throttle, so I turned the TC off on the Infinity and tried to figure out if I should punch it as soon as the light turns green or what. After a little common sense sat in, I decided to just let him take the hit and launch mine as soon as I saw his rear squat. Light goes green, and he feathers the clutch and flat takes off. I did the same, but wasn't able to hook as well as he did, although I didn't spin too bad. Before I could get out of 1st gear, he already has about 3 cars on us. Once the G35 shifted to 2nd gear, he was no longer pulling and we actually gained a few feet back. A car pulled out up ahead, so we both got on the brake and shut it down. So basically it breaks down like this... 0-75 mph, STI gets the jump and instantly gains 3 cars, G35 stops the STIs pull by 40-50 mph and gains a few feet, race ends with STI about 2.5 cars ahead. STI was modded with very audible exhaust and turbo blow off. I'd love to run him at the track where I could get a good sticky launch in the G35.

I travel that road everyday and have never seen him before. Hopefully, he just bought the car and thats why. I'd love to catch him again, or at a gas station so I could talk to him.

well, I know it made a world of a difference in the WRX because in 09 it got the turbo from the old STI. I imagine that means that it makes a noticeable difference in the STI as well, don't know any numbers though.
Although all the magazines are noticing that the newer STI's are slower then the 06/07 ones, o well!

It was on Falls of the Neuse. I stopped at 70, but that doesn't change the fact that the cops are out there, along with all the side streets, etc. Good thing I dreamed the whole thing and it never happened, lol.
