2011 Mustang V6 6M vs 2011 Camaro
On Saturday night I pulled into a left hand turn lane behind what I though was a brand new V6 Camaro (no SS badge, dealer plates). I did notice that he had larger than normal exhaust tips for a V6 but figured it was just a dealer appereance add on.
So we both turn left and he takes off, I follow in pursuit but we don't get going too fast before we approach another red light. As we are both slowing down for the red light, it goes green, I'd say we're both doing about 5mph at this point. Both of us hit it at the exact same time and he slowly comes around me and puts roughly 1-1.5 car lengths on me up to about 110mph at which point I let off. He kept on going up to about 130mph I'd say, which was pretty stupid seeing as it was a city street, all be it a very open and empty city street. Not that doing a 100mph is much better. From the race I could tell that his car was an auto and that it sounded pretty good for a V6. I assumed that he must have had an aftermarket exhaust.
So at this point I'm pretty disappointed, as I'm under the impression that I just got pulled by a V6 Camaro in my supposedly faster V6 Mustang and in my eye's; I had rowed my gears as well as I could have without doing a clutchless power shift. He had a continuous slow pull going the whole run.
The two lane road narrows down to one lane and I have to follow this guy for the next two miles; the whole time I'm steaming. As we pull up to the next light, the road becomes two lanes again. We exchange thumbs up and I yell over "that thing a V6?" To which he replies, "no man, this a brand new SS." I smiled and very quickly became a whole hell of a lot happier with the results.

Looking at the run from a bench racers view point, the results make pretty good sense. The L99's are 107/108mph cars on glory passes and I'd say that when the dust settles, we'll have 6M 3.7L's running around 103mph on glory passes.

haha.. watch the camaro forums, he'll report blowing you away once you guys hit 100 mph
"I was pulling pretty well, slowly pulling further away and then just blew his doors off at 100mph"
camarofanboi reply - "must have been a 5.0, mustangs are slooooww"
nice run, very nice.

That's why I orginally assumed it was a V6 after the loss but the more I thought about it, the more it made some sense.
Thanks man and 4.10's certainly would help, I'd hope for his sake that he'd still pull me.
Haha thanks. Had I raced him past 118mph it would've gotten real ugly.
Man, my mood did a 180 degree swing when I heard him say that.

Good stuff man!!! Get some gears intake and a tune in that thing!!
My dad's 2011 v6 just put down 274whp and 269wtq on a bama 93 race tune with a C&L cai. That camaro would of been a little on the butt hurt side if you had those mods lol
