Default 1997 mustang gt vs 1994 Ford Taurus SHO

Well, me and my father finally got the rebuilt engine back into the SHO so we could sell it, and me and my cousin decided to race them before the sho went to its new owner.
NOTE: They are both my cars, and they are both 5 speeds, and both are stock.

First race was from a dig
The mustang took him off the line having 2 cars by the 1st-2nd gear shift, still pulling until around my 2nd-3rd gear shift where the mustang pull stops, shut it down around 125 and the mustang was about 2.5-3 cars ahead.

Second race was from a 30 mph roll
3 honks and off we are, the mustang has 1/2 a car length by 1st-2nd and thats it, no more pulling from either of the cars. Shut them down at 125 with the SHO 1/2 car behind.

We had several other races, with them all ending about the same, the mustang 2-3 cars ahead from a dig and barely ahead from a roll.

It's amazing how ****ty FWD cars launch. There are plenty of S/C and a few T/C SHO's I know pushing 400+ fwhp and running high 12's with 2.4 and worse 60' times.

For anyone who doesn't know what an SHO is, it's a Taurus that packs a 225 hp/ 225 ft lbs of tq Yamaha built 3.0(or 3.2 in the auto version) 24 Valve V6. Most drivers get low 15's stock. It's pretty waspy for a 11 year old family sedan. Major sleeper. Too bad she's gone, and part of the $4500 I got out of it is going towards the rest of the gaskets/misc. parts and gears/exhaust to complete the cammed/PI swapped/full exhaust 97.

I always wanted an SHO. a 93-95. I'm not a fan of the v8 auto ones they made.

That's good too, because if you bought one of them 3.4 V8s don't be surprised if the cams fell apart. Ford wouldn't fix **** if that happened since Yamaha built the engine anyway.

Glad Ford stands behind the products they sell, regardless of if they built them or not.

I had a 94 SHO for a while, mine was an auto. I sold it to my buddy because I decided I didn't need 2 cars. It is a nice driving and pretty quick car for it's age and for what it is.

If you beat him in an 00 v6 he was either not racing, or his car was running ****ty, a stock 00 v6 is not in a good running SHO's league, ecspecially from a roll. SHO's run their best from a roll.
