Default My buddy's E36 (yes, the M3) bimmer.....went down :)

Alright,

Background:

Ever since I bought my GT in Feb, my buddy has been **** talking me about how he could outrun me. Grant you, he has some work done to it, custom program, CAI. I've taken a ride in it, it feels quick.

Fast forward to this past Friday night on some undisclosed GA road,

Went to dinner with him and another friend. When we left, we just-so-happen to take the same route,,,imagine that.

I pulled pretty good on him throughout the rpm's. At some point, he got in front of me and I was right on him the whole time.

I whipped out around to his left, (in 4th gear at this time), and got up to about his door and I bounced off the rev limiter (6800 and 134) and shifted to 5th. He decided that was enough and waved me off.

I was talking to him a little while later and he said he had about 1,000 rpms to go. I responded with, I still had 5th gear left. lol.....

(I don't condone racing on public highways, however, we are men and we will do stupid men crap)

No its an E36 M3, not an E46. E36's sold in the US made 240hp stock. A stock 3v S197 can handle one easily.

does not compute.

how did you pull on him, then he "at some point" pulled on you enough for you to "whip" around him at 120+mph, then your not even paying attention enough so you hit the limiter in 4th?

W-T-F?

Even though it only has 240hp most of it's times match up with a stock S197, 0-60 in 5.2 and 1/4 mile was 13.9 in the article I read.

^^^ This. Don't under estimate them, even with 240hp and a 5spd, they are quick little cars.

As far as him getting in front of me, lol, I thought we were done and he kept going so I felt like I had prove my point, again.

As far as bouncing off the rev limiter. With 4.10's, cams, intake mani, cai, LT's, etc, I'm to scared to take my eyes off the road, even for a split second. So yea, I bounced off the rev limiter.

wat.

install a shift light.

probably shouldn't be going up to 130+ mph if you can't even pay attention to what the car is doing man. Just saying your risking your safety and others.

don't care how fast you where going, but when your not paying attention enough to your car, ****s gonna go wrong.

I have more power then you, in a MUCH MUCH lighter car, and I look from the road, to my tach, or speedometer all the time. hell at the track I probably spend more time looking at the tach then the track itself.

shift light helped a ton though. I recommend one for sure.

While I'm not disagreeing with you, they're decently quick cars, the best of the best can only get them into the high 13's and they struggle to trap triple digits. A stock 3v's has about 4/10ths and 3mph on one with an equal driver in my opinion.
