Battle of the LS1's. Got my first races in the Z28

I just miss banging gears. I might be able to adjust that. I've only looked through the options a couple times so far. I need to adjust the kickdown though. If I take off easy and go to 2nd, then put it to the floor, it wont kick down to 1st. Just stays in 2nd. If I let it shift to 3rd, then put it to the floor, it'll go to 1st though.

I almost didn't race the 2nd one after seeing what the first T/A did against it. But the kid has been talking about running me since I got the car. So I figured I'd just go ahead and do it.

Racing from 9 to 5... going to be a long day. Hope the weather holds..let me know if you do decide to go.

Only reason I wouldn't do it is because I know I wouldn't run enough to justify the $50. Most of the time I never like to run any more than 5 passes or so. Too scared to break something. Lol. If I can talk a couple others into going I might say screw it and go. Whose track rental is it? MFBA?

If you like drag racing then you'll keep the auto. Put a decent converter in it and you'll poop all over 6-speed cars.
What's with the short shift into 2nd? My 1st gear runs all the way to redline if I keep my foot in it, hits about 55 in 1st (2.73 gears).
And no, do NOT delete all of the torque management unless you want to rebuild the trans about every month or so. Torque management keeps the 4L60E from basically eating itself.

If I went to the track a lot I'd want an auto. But for daily driving and a few street races here and there I love having a 6speed. I've heard converters eat up 4L60E's like crazy so I don't want to even mess with it. And it short shifted because I have to pedal it in 1st. And once I let out of it a little bit it wants to hit 2nd.

^Ah yes, that makes sense.
A looser converter will make more heat, but you can prolong the life (some, anyway) of the trans with a phat cooler. My 4L60E didn't last long after I stalled it but it already had a lot of miles on it anyway (173k).

Mine didn't last long either, but in the 4l60E's defense, I was beating the hell out of it. Hot lapping the track, constantly blipping the throttle, etc. Either way, its hard to get around the fact the 4l60's need to be built to last very long stalled.
