Going for broke

I was getting ready to pull out of a lot and across the street from me I see a gt (thought it was a boss due to side stripes) pull out of a lot and hammer on it. I immediately followed to see if I could catch up with him. Due to a detour I was able to get to him and it was just me and him. It was real dark and I still thought it was a boss. It had exhaust on it that I was sure of. I pulled beside him and asked him if he wanted to run. He said sure and we went to a clear road. I knew he wasn't going to want to go from a dig but I'd guess it was about a 5mph roll when he hit it. I wasn't really sure what he was doing to do when he did hit it and I hadn't ran anyone at all in my 5.0 so I reacted on his hit. I was shocked when not only was i hanging with him I was starting to pull him. He was a manual and me automatic. We definately had different shift points as I would start to pull him then we'd even out again. once I hit fourth he put about a half car on me and then once again I pulled back up to even it up..then we both backed out about the same time. I pulled into a lot down the road and he did as well. Cool guy. He had a 2011 gt with 3.73s, cai and a tune with full exhaust bbk headers offroad h etc... as we were talking he showed me a timeslip from the strip for a 11.87 run on drag radials. I was stoked to even run with him as all I have for mods are a steeda cai/steeda tune. I can honestly say that had we started at the same time I'm not sure he would of stayed with me but that wasn't how it played out tonight. First race for me in 5.0 and although it wasn't a kill I wasn't killed either lol..

11.8 is what people with autos have run with just tune+drag radials, so staying even sounds a bout right i suppose, i think a lot of the manual runs being slower than autos can be linked to driver error.

Yea fun run and a cool guy to run with. He was telling me he sunk 7k into his 07 to run slower at the track with that then he did with his 5.0 when it was stock.

Yea he didn't miss any gears or anything but I agree that he might not of been the best of drivers. hard to say when your not in his car I guess.
