fun run with an SRT10
had a little fun this past weekend. it was quite nice out, and i was cruising around town in the Duramax and happened upon a rare site around here. an SRT-10 Coupe.
i quick caught up to him and gassed it a little to see if he was willing to play. he gave me the typical look of "you don't want any of this" and proceeded to drop it down to 2nd gear. i brought the Duramax down to 3rd and waited for him to take off.
just like i had hoped he would, he rolled into the gas @ 25mph and let that V10 sing. i rolled into the loud pedal, and stopped his pull. then i started to reel him in quite quickly. evidentally he wasn't WOT. we both let off and evened up again. he thought a jet was chasing him down from the sound of my turbos lol. we agreed to a 45mph highway pull.
finally got evened up, i dropped the truck into 4th (and set her to level 4 on the 5-pole switch), he hits 2nd again. he honks it off, and boom we're off. he jumped an early lead (as i was only @ 6psi on the 3rd honk lol) until the snails lit off. i slowed his pull, shifted to 5th and switched her to level 5. i completely stopped his pull, and started to slowly reel his 3 car lead back in.
i look down for a split second to see the speedometer completely buried @ well over 100mph, then smash the shifter into 6th. the Viper was screaming for all it was worth, but it was no use. the Duramax had opened her lungs, and was breathing in to the tune of 55 psi.
i got within a nose of taking that Viper, and then the Duramax ran into the rev limiter in 6th. 152mph, and i had almost taken an SRT-10.
on a side note, the Duramax no longer makes 782rwhp. i'm not certain as to how much now, but it's more. over the winter i pulled the old single PT88 setup, and now i have a PT76/PT106 compound setup.
i actually had to install 50% overfuel injectors, and send out both CP3s to be built, because i was running out of fuel up top. i did the tuning myself, and so far it's holding together quite well. i'll have to get it on the dyno soon to see what she really makes, but i know it can top end a 126mph trap car now
PS, i've dumped way too much money into this truck lol
