Default Rusty = loss

not a real "race" more of a chase is a race.

Cruising to breakfast this morning, I'm driving along side a worked Buick GN, on the corn, makes about 750-800 according to the owner, rolling on the new MT ET Pro 275s DRs, I hear him brake boost and let off and let the blow off valve flutter that owe so sexy sound of a big turbo.

a few moments later, we have a open and secluded stretch of road, I'm about a half car or so ahead of him and I hear him building boost, brake boosting SOB.

So I drop to 3rd at about 50 or so, as I'm letting the clutch out I hear his RPM really build and BANG like a sling shot he comes running up on me. As he pulls along side, I roll into the gas as I'm concerned I'll spin the tires (running too much air in the M&Hs). As I'm rolling in he pulls out about a 3/4 car on me and I stop his pull. Next thing I know the instruments light up red, built in shift light coming on at 6000 rpm, crap I was not even watching the RPM, , granny shift like a I'm asleep I grab fourth, had he pulls out another 1/2 car or so, whined out 4th a bit and I know I'm not catching him and let out.

been a while since I had a good run and I'm well out of practice. I'll have another shot at him in the future I'm sure.

Wow would have loved to see it on vid/be there.. Sounds like you would have held in there easy with traction and a good shift.

Must have been Vin Diesel behind the wheel

Those things are so rare.. I am surprised they're still around!

I hate it when I get caught off guard like that. It doesn't happen often, but when it does, it frustrates the crap outta me. I'm used to beating faster cars than me, not the other way around.

wasn't so much that I was caught off guard, more that I'm just out of practice, however, his car maybe faster, it probably makes similar power as mine, is lighter, has a auto and seems to hook on the MT275 Pro his got under it.

Nice thread, thanks. My 3.7 shocks many 4.6's & V6 Camaro's.

I think it was just the opposite of being caught off guard. By your story, it seems that you saw it, heard it, and anticipated it about as well or better than most would have.

That's a pretty tough race if you drive perfectly and proves that even the SMALLEST of hiccups can make the difference. That's where the term "driver's race" came from....

Grats on the solid run - wish I would have seen it go down.
