Default Beat my buddies 08 SI w/ v6

Hey guys kinda new to the forum but recently got a 2014 v6.

Me and my buddy have always had this thing going where we try to be faster than each other. he has longtube header, no cat, 2.5 inch exhaust, some CAI, and a tune.

i was able to pull on him from a 60 roll where he has the advantage. he wont even race me from a dig haha.

anyways thats my story as far as now. there will be more.

so far i was beaten by a bolt on TBSS and a hr 350

Good kill op! Even with his mods it should've been relatively easy.

Any future mods for the 6?

actually he is rocking probably around 220whp.. and is about 600 lbs lighter. so from a roll its actually not that big of a pull..

and i plan to do BC racing coils, Wheels and I/E/T

all the normal stuff..

A civic Si is nothing to get excited about. Stock they are 6.3-6.5 0-60mph and a mid-to-high 14 second car. Unless you can't drive they are easy to put away.

Even modified I doubt he's much quicker than 6.0 0-60 and solid mid 14's.

A Stock v6 Mustang 2011+ stand runs about 5.3-5.5 0-60 and anywhere from High 13's to Low 14's.

A stock TBSS is as fast as you are in stock form. Modded though they are pretty fast because the displacement (6.0L) breathes very well with modding.

HR 350? You referring to the 350Z motor (VQ350HR) or something else? Again, stock they match you. Normal bolt-ons don't do much for those motors so either he was highly modded or a better driver than you.

one again all this was from a highway roll... so 0-60 does not matter one bit.

the SI has somewhere around 220-230 whp, will know for sure this weekend but that makes it a pretty close race considering he is around 600 lbs lighter and probably runs a low 14.

and the HR motor is the one i am referring too which is actually faster than me in stock form. those run mid to low 13's and its all in the top end. which going from 60... of course its gonna pull

I missed the "from a 60 roll' part.

Your friends SI must be pretty highly modded to get that much WHP (more than what you had listed)? Stock they were 200HP at the flywheel which is only 170whp (15% drivetrain loss). If he's 220-230 whp he's pushing around 250-270 at the flywheel?

No they do not respond well to bolt-ons. They respond alright to a tune, but bolt-ons don't do much at all for them. A full header-back exhaust nets them around 10whp. There is no way that 08 SI is anywhere near 230 WHP. Not even close. He's lucky to be close to 190-200 whp. I've seen comptech SI's push 230-250 WHP with 4-5 psi.

I used to own an 08 SI.

I had a Civic Mugen Si try me last week... lol.... I really wish I had it on video. I can't even imagine it being a challenge for a V6 Stang.
