Default Playing around with my new DD at the track

Its been a while since I have posted any videos from the track, mainly because I haven't had the Shelby at the strip but twice this year. I bought a new truck to serve as a DD and a tow vehicle so I can put some slicks on the 500 and finally get some good ETs out of it. So I picked up a 2002 Lightning with 42K miles on it and started playing around with it.... JLT CAI, 4# pulley, and a custom tune. In 100 degree heat it made 385rwhp and 463rwtq on the dyno, and is a blast to drive. Anyway, I took it to the track today to play around and I was super happy with the results. Here is a in-car video of the best pass.

Great editing, liked the camera angle. Congrats on your "tow" vehicle lol.

Damn I love those things... stop it or I'm going to end up with another vehicle and no where to store it!

Nice results and loved the video.

Thanks guys.... I honestly think I may have more fun at the track with the truck rather than the 500. Everybody expects the car to go fast, but a lot of people still don't know what the trucks are capable of. I think I am going to add a higher capacity reservoir for the intercooler so I can pack it with ice and get the IAT temps way down, then turn the boost up another 2psi and see how far that will get me. I would LOVE to see a 7.99 on drag radials, but that might be a little optimistic. I do think that 8.1X or maybe 8.0s is not out of reach.

I seem to remember those trucks pulling 13.2 ~ 13.3 in the 1/4 bone stock (around 8.4-8.5 in the 1/8th) I think with the right conditions on DRs you could do that as is.

Edit...

HERE YOU GO! Looks like it was ridiculously cold/winter? It was uploaded in december and the boys look to be wearing winter gear. DA was likely severely negative.... but that makes your goal even more likely considering he only had the slicks.

Wow. Looks like the conditions were as optimal as it can get for that pass! Does make me a little more optimistic that 7.90s are pretty real world goal. I may try to find some more factory wheels and mount some drag radials on them and see what it will do the way it sits. Would have to be good for at LEAST .10-.15 off the 60ft times, and I really think if I cooled it off good by running ice water thru the intercooler it would make another .10-.20 difference.

Yeah I would think the extra power you have and a great launch in good weather would be more than enough. Good luck! I need to buy a damn L.
