Ran the GTO.. :/
Wasn't going to post this since its nothing to brag about, nor do I have any vids, but the S/S looks like its needs some life breathed into it so here's all I got..
Took the Goat to the track Sunday for test-n-tune. I was pretty disappointed to say the least. The car is stock other than an intake and axle-back Flowmasters. No tune, so the intake isn't gaining much if anything at all. First mistake, I dropped 85lbs off the rear by dropping the spare, fuel tank cage, tools, etc. Second mistake was running on street tires after dropping all that rear weight. My car is lowered about an inch as well, so there wasn't any squat to help hook either. Anyway, here's what the slip looked like..
2.14 60'
5.94 330'
1/8th ET 8.97
1/8th MPH 82.19
1/4 ET 13.67
1/4 MPH 106.21
So basically I ordered an off-road mid to open up the exhaust. Once its here and on the car I'm getting it dyno tuned. Then re-run to see gains (already put the weight back in). After that I'll find some drag tires/drag bags and see if I can get a good launch out of it. I'm not too upset with the GTO considering its more my fault it ran what it did rather that the car's lack of performance. Knowing how LS motors respond to mods, I'm not too concerned. And yes, I'm planning on a cam, etc..

Thats not actually to bad for that car. The sixty Im refering to, not the 13.7ET. Those cars are pretty hard to get a good launch with those skinny little stock tires out back and the gobs of torque the car produces.

Thanks BB. I was able to roll it out to a 2.1, but after that it kept wanting to break loose again. I made 4 passes, the other 3 were awful 2.2, 2.3, and even a 2.4 60'.
Its gotta be the toughest car I've ever tried launching at the track.
Tires.. 235 ZR18s

The 04 ran a best of 13.8 at 102 IIRC. But that was giving it everything she had off the line, ***** out, no wheel spin even if I tried, etc..this 06 is being seriously finessed off the line and through 1st and 2nd gears. Its the low end TQ that is so noticeable between the two.
It took headers, intake, tune, and DRs to get the 04 into the 12s. Ended up with a 12.85 at 109 on a 1.85 60'. I'd say with equal traction there's a solid gap between the two cars. I hope to be low 12s with exhaust, tune, and traction with this thing. If not, I'll either accept it as a nice car that can get out of its own way, or seriously step it up.

bout time you posted this Trey! for what it is, the times aren't terrible. You really need to get that thing a set of dr's from the sounds of it. I wouldn't bother going back to the track until you do as you wont get real gains from the mid/tune if you're spinning to the 1/8th mile.

I found what I like as far as wheels. Just trying to shop and buy the damn things. Here's the link, look at post #11 http://www.ls1gto.com/forums/showthread.php?t=427094

How was the DA? I found the tunes in the GTOs to be completely hit or miss. My friends 06 was an Auto so it had it's own struggles but in stock form I beat it up pretty bad stock to stock. After a retune it took damn near perfect driving to keep ahead of him and he hadn't done anything more than a CAI/Tune. If the weather wasn't hurting you and you don't think the driving hurt (Hitting that 6500 limiter is weird with the LS2) I bet a tune puts that thing right where you want it. Unless your launch was completely terrible (nearly killed it or spun badly) a 2.0x - 2.1x 60ft is all I ever manage and my times haven't been too far off the mark given power/weight/gearing.
Edit: I guess the spinning thing is implied here... haha so I apologize if the above is invalid.

Those wheels look pretty good stone, knock off prostars are what tcstanger runs only he has the summit brand. Hard to beat getting a set for under 300 bucks. What tires you thinking of? slicks or radials?
