Chase is race:Rav4 v6?!
 
Dude.. I just got dusted by a Rav4! Kinda sorta.. we both lined up at a light after I seen him zipping through traffic. I gave him the benefit out the doubt and let him get the jump. My mistake! He took off like a bat outta hell!

I launched it with him already in the lead and oddly enough, I didn't even pull or reel him in! I let off at 60 with him already pulling and about a three car lead.. what the hell is in those things?!

I posted up on my other forum and I guess their V6 is nearly 300hp and AWD.. 3500 lbs.

Damn.. just damn! :icon_clapclap:

I looked up the stats for a 2012 (they dropped the V6 for the new bodystyle)

(AWD appears optional) 269 hp, 246 lb/trq through a 5 speed automatic at about 3500 pounds (the turd 4 cyl of that generation still had the 4 speed auto..LOL).

Definitely quick.

I did some quick reading on their forums and looks like some get it down to the 13.9's (!) lol I guess there's a forum for every car make now..

not bad at all, those are faster than the V6 Charger's and even the 1st gen Hemi's stock! That's it for them though.. I don't see real hp mods or even headers. Not bad for a little grocery getter though!

Given any car the jump is always takes time to close that gap back up. Especially from a dig (even worse for us traction limited guys). They'll be at least a car ahead before you even react, not to mention already that much further ahead on RPMs then you. If you guys went again and left at the same time, you'd destroy that Rav.

No doubt about it (dig run), just took me by surprise how quickly that lil sucker rolled out considering what it is (non assuming, smaller SUV built on a sub compact frame). It really didn't look like anything extraordinary. I'd love to get my hands on one, put a stroker motor, custom headers and a tune on it; stand alone fuel management. Might only run mid 12's at best, but it'll be the quickest lil Rav4 out there lol :D

Idle dreaming.. the t-case and trans might poop out before then!

The fact that the V6 has been in that car since 2006 blows me away. I have never even heard of those things and I do a lot of reading up on cars!

I am pressing my girl to getting a used 2011 Rav4 w/the V6 up here for sale :D

She's in the market for a new ride and the Rav4 fits the bill just perfect; V6, AWD, smaller SUV for the kids. She drives both the Charger and her 1.8 Sentra sport like she stole them so I think she'll more than approve! lol

That could be because barely anyone with those things drives them hard..I mean just leaving from a light hard. I don't think that many of the Toyota owners go WOT at all.

Plus the n/a turd 4 cylinders dominate that small SUV market so the six cylinder versions are not as popular. Toyota dropped the 6 cylinder for the new bodystyle and I'm not sure if they will bring it back.

I know Chevy had the Equinox SS and Ford had the 240hp V6 Escape with the 6 speed auto, and Subaru with the Forrester XT (turbo 250 hp 4 sp auto or CVT I think) so there are a few other examples but generally speaking, just not that common.

I hear the V6's weren't all that popular in the Rav4's.. go figure. You give them a moderate size/weight chassis, AWD and the power of a Sixxer and it does not sell (??)

Same fate for the AWD Charger's.. the Hemi AWD's weren't selling so they dropped it in AWD form and kept the V-6's. Strange how things work out.

I suppose most normal folks don't see a need for sheer power/acceleration on a daily basis..

I think Dodge still makes an AWD Hemi Charger though. I went and fiddled around with building a Charger on their website and the AWD Hemi is still an option. Do you mean the 2015's?

Sadly, they dropped the AWD for the 2015 Hemi's but you can still get them with the 3.6/8 speed auto. Still 4000lbs. or so, but with a high strung 300hp motor and way better gearing than the old 5 speed. It's high 14's quick. I like the styling of my car better than the new '15's though which look like an inbreed of the Durango/Dart/Charger if it had a big orgy and shat out the new '15 Charger :D

I love mine because it's a monster in the snow/weekly blizzards up here and feels like a friggin' tank with it's sheer weight. AWD and 420lbs./ft. of torque is always fun too. Low-mid 13's is nothing to write home about nowadays, but being nearly 5k lbs. of big ass seats, four fat doors, a mammoth hood/trunk and a 345ci under the hood.. it's not too shabby.

It's a big burly sedan can't argue with that lol. Kind of like your big buff/fat friend that shows up to the party late, loud and already drunk... like "okay, I am here.. this is me".

An accurate review..


I originally wanted it just for the AWD and V8 but I became a pretty big fan of these cars. I really wasn't expecting much to be honest back in 2011 coming from my modded 08 S197 but I am very pleased with the performance for how ridiculously big and heavy this porker is. I have quite a few mods to the transmission right now and it's night and day from stock. Got rid of the MDS (Multi-cylinder Deactivation System) and some other goodies..

I actually just left a Dodge dealership as a tech. Thought I was gonna be doing some cool stuff but ended up working on mini van's, old ass Stratus's and Neons lol

Funny you say that because I just raced a modded 3500 5.9 Cummins earlier today. He kept me off pretty good from a 1st gear roll til about 60mph and then I put about 5-6 cars on him easily. From a DIG, he actually jumped me by nearly a car and we were neck and neck til about 60mph where I started to pull again by many many cars.

He's upgrading to a big turbo this weekend, should be a clean run. It's a stick, 4x4, big wheels and a canopy (!). Kept up real good initially. I am suspecting turbo lag may be an issue with the bigger turbo but we'll see. It moved on out real good off the line though!

I just ran my buddy with a new turbo in his 3500 Cummin's. Bigger hot side, canned tune.. lag like a mofo off the line but the top end was better. I got him off the line a few times on some poorly timed DIG runs but still runs none the less. Last run.. BAM! Truck busts a U-joint on the front driveshaft! Doh!! Should run pretty good once it's all tuned and a new front driveshaft...

My neighbors son in law bought a Silverado diesel and changed out the pipes and got 135 more hp, yesterday I got baited by a Dodge diesel that ran pretty good itself. I let it go.

Those Diesels actually can run pretty good for weighing friggin' 7-8k lbs.! You might have your hands full depending on your mods vs his.

My buddy thought he was gonna pull on me because of the bigger turbo but the hot side was so big it lagged so much more than stock it wasn't as great off the line for him. He said he was starting to reel me in but I was already hitting triple digits and with the truck 5-6 cars behind me so I shut it down. I think he's delusional honestly lol. Injectors and a custom tune, that sucker is gonna rip though.. not sure by how much. It's a 3500 crew cab, mudders and a canopy. Stick shift.
