Default Is my 5.0 Safe?

I feel like if I am asking this question the answer is already no. I am thinking about running my 1990 vert for fun at my local strip. NHRA says that convertible running faster than a 13.99 require a roll bar. My car does not have a roll bar and having never run the car I have no idea how fast it runs. I am just looking to casually go fast a couple weekends a Summer, but I am conflicted on running without a roll bar. Anyone have any thoughts or advice? I would prefer to not spend the money on a roll bar, but I don't want to get kicked out or die. The performance upgrades are listed below.

I wouldn't do it. I'm apparently getting more conservative in my old age.

I'd say run it and find out.....at least you'll get one run in lol.

With your mod list and if your an auto car with stock gears you might not even break into the 13's. If anything sandbag the first couple runs to get an idea of what the car can do.

Are there any other track close to you ? Some tracks are not as strict as others. Especially if your just running a TNT night. Most tracks will let you go unless it's obviously much faster.

Keep us posted.....but I think you'll be fine for any TnT event.

Unless NHRA made a recent rule change, or it is a local track rule, 13.49 is the ET requiring a roll bar.

It's a T5 with 3.73 gears in the rear...
I stand corrected it is 13.49. That gives me a little more buffer.

I still think you'll be fine.......granny shift the first couple passes then whittle it down to a 13.50.

Enjoy and nice looking Fox you got there. Love the color....

Thank you! That seems to be a common compliment XD. If I could've gone with any other color it would've been orange with a black interior. I like the color on yours. I appreciate the advice.

If tuned right and on a healthy motor it should hit 13.5

Put the top up. Make a pass. And see if they throw you out!

Run it. Worse case scenario, they don't let you run again. As far as safety goes, you run a lot higher risk driving down the street than you do at the track. Beautiful car by the way!
