Whats the minimum amount of rwhp a 99-04 2 valve with street radials and 4:10s would need to beat and STI from a dig? (assuming a clean launch) what about an evo?

Im guessing at least 350 but what do you guys think?

it's not all hp. but i would say about 350. you are already behind. nothing can out accelerate an AWD from a launch, at least street legal

unless that person knows how to launch their STi, you could probably take him with just the 4.10s and some DRs. but then again, you have to know how to launch.

Id bet you could do it with 300 to the wheels if you can get traction enough to launch.

most people with STis willing to race won't be stock. if it's a bolt-on STi, which my brother has, you are going to need to be in twelves

I will say a good driver in the mustang and someone that doesn't know that they have to launch at 5000+ in the STI or EVO. And you'll have them, if your on the street it'll make it easier. Just race them a little farther than a 1/4 that'll give you time to catch up or increase your lead, but seing that you have 410's that won't be as easy if you had 355's or lower gears. If he can drive and you have 410's, and you want to know what it would take, fastest and simplest. Nitrous+what you already have.

Being almost stock, I have probably about 300 hp at the wheels and if I could get some traction I could probably take a stock Sti from a dig, or at least it would be damn close. I ran 13.34 @ 106 with not much traction. And I have crappy gears for the 1/4 mile.

I'd say 350 sound about right maybe a little less with the 4:10s and some good rubber. It could be damn close. For refrence, stock I was cutting consistant 1.7s with only two visits to the track. IMO the STi is takes alot to drive 'casue we make alot more shifts to get across the 1/4. I know stock we need to hit 3rd gear before we reach 60mph. I had to hit 5th or hit the limiter in 4th to get across the line. So, take my input as you see fit.

with the 4.10's like the guys above me said, you'll really need traction, I would also say the natural mustang bolt ons, intake, exhaust (Longtube headers, and noncatted midpipe), ecu upgrade like a diablosport or Xcal2 and some lower control arms and drag radials to help your launch.. remember the STi runs 300 to the fly which is more then us, plus you have to deal with the AWD problem.. The STi is about 2 tenths faster in the qtr then the evo, so if you can beat a STi, you shouldn't have any problems against the evo...

You quick bastard! I can't 60 ft any better than 2.08, usually 2.1 or so.
If I could hit 1.7, hmmm...
