Default New to me mustang. Need input

I have a 2001 gt hard top, 5 speed.

I am looking to basically have my mustang handle respectively in the mountains. No racing , just something fun to get my twisty road fix. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

I like the Eibach Pro-Kit springs. They lower the car about an inch, which is just about perfect for a street-driven 'Stang. I prefer them over Eibach's Sportline springs, which lower the vehicle about 2 inches.

You may also want to look into a short-throw shifter, even though it won't affect vehicle performance. It makes shifting gears more of a wrist action than an arm action. I don't know how else to describe them, but a good one can be had for under $200 (worth it). You'd love it.

What is your budget? That is always the key to know when building a package.

This is a great package - http://www.steeda.com/steeda-mustang...kage-555-2134/

You also want to ensure your bushings are good too:

Let me know if I can help assist with a package!

Best Regards,

TJ

To start, I'd like to keep my budget at 1k. I've been rather partial to the eibach kit pro kit, but I can't find anything specifying spring rates. I'm concerned it will be a little on the soft side. What's the rates on the steeda springs? What struts/shocks do you recommend with them?

The direction you take with that car will depend on the condition of the base suspension components. It is very hard to give a complete recommendation of what you need without knowing all of the details of your car.

If the bushings on the control arms (f & r) are worn-out, that will need to be addressed with some of that money.

So, let's say that the car has 100K miles. In that case you will need to replace the wear items first.

Here is our Steeda upper and lower control arm kit.
http://www.steeda.com/steeda-mustang...ombo-555-2002/

Up front, you can either replace the bushings and ball joints in his existing arms with our Bushings - http://www.steeda.com/energy-suspens...s-122-4.3140.g

Ball joints - http://www.steeda.com/steeda-x2-must...t-kit-555-8101

Up front we sell all new control arms complete with new bushings and ball joints for $249.95 for the pair.

You would want to pair them with the Konis ... they are currently 25% off:

http://www.steeda.com/1999-2004-mustang-shocks-struts/

So, on a high mile car, you would be looking at the following:

Rear control arms $299.95
Front control arms $249.95
Koni STR.T shocks and struts $299.95
Steeda Sport springs $209.95
Steeda 3-bolt Caster Camber plates $179.95

The spring rates on the Sports are 650lb front, 200-250lb rear.

If you would like, I can put you in contact with one of our suspension experts (Rod) to complete your package & ensure all the parts meet your needs.

You can reach me at tim@steeda.com.

Best Regards,

TJ
