need traction
 

i just took my car to the track and no matter what i did i lost traction in first gear off the line. i have a 87 fox with 1.7 rockers,24lb injectors,cobra intake,3.73 ford racing rear end,subframe connectors,under drive pulleys. i need your help. its a 5 speed 5.0l. what will give me traction off the line?????

Tires & Suspension, my friend. Tires & Suspension. With your mods, UPR Pro Series suspension and 26x10 Slicks would dead hook off the line.

Definitely, without a doubt, TIRES. What I did was camp out on Craigslist for awhile until I found a great deal on a set of slicks mounted on Welds. Or you can buy new if you'd like, but for the 2-3 times a year I run, these where perfect. Then I picked up a matching set of skinny fronts from a local swap and I was done. See avatar pic.

And let me tell ya, there's REALLY nothing like the feeling when you can launch a car and dead hook with no spin. Just make sure your radio is securely mounted or you'll never get 3rd gear. I know this for a fact lol.

Don't know why this got moved to a dead section, should have at least been moved to the Street/Strip section .
