Default Best Supercharger for the money

Well,

I have a serious problem.. I bought my 99 Cobra with the idea of changing the rims, exhaust and suspension.. I've done that.. My first thought was 'wow, this car is smokin hot and fast enough.' I'm no longer thinking that.. I need more power.. I'm not going to play around with all the little add ons.. I want to go straight to bolt on HP..

So, I started looking into Superchargers.. To my suprise they all appear to be about $4,000+.. Am I just looking at funky web sites or are they really that much? I have a wife and kid so money is a concern.. I have a limited amount to spend.. Having said that, what do you guys suggest? I don't think I need the largest one out there but I do want a good increase..

What are you planning on doing with it? Do you visit the tracks a lot or just like blasting around the city?
Twin Screw = Instant boost / Excellent for city romping.
Centrificul Blower = Makes boost at higher RPM's / Excellent for track.

If you are going to get a supercharger...don't go small. Get a KB 2.2L/2.4L

Go big or go home!

I just want to blast around the city.. Also, I want the look and sound.. This thing will probably never go to the track and will never go beyond the SC.. I'm not shooting for any 1320 time either.. I just want a fast, slick and good sounding car I can show off..

I agree, the KB is a great S/C for street driving! Just keep the boost at an average level! My pal has a 99 with a Vortech SQ trim running 10 lbs of boost. He power level is more in the upper rpms
and my 03 cobra has a lot more power down low because of mine being a positive displacement blower and his being a centrifugal! The KB has even more power than my roots down low!! Eventually, I want to upgrade to a KB or a Whipple! Just keep the boost between 8 to 10 lbs and your rods and pistons will last!

I checked out some KB chargers but they are $4,000+ and thats gonna be hard to talk the wife into.. So, in my search to save money I checked ebay..

"THIS ITEM IS FOR JUST THE UPPER INTAKE and PULLEY, YOU WILL NEED LOWER INTAKE AND INTERCOOLER. WILL FIT 99+ GT and COBRA, or 96-98 GT with PI HEADS"

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2003-...52881646QQrdZ1

Can I get this unit and use my factory lower intake and just buy the intercooler? What are PI heads? Does anything have to be changed like the computer or any other componants or can I just bolt this thing on?

Thanks

I have a 2001 cobra with a vortech supercharger and intercooler. I also have eibach springs, frame ties, bbk x pipe and mac catback, bbk 65mm throttle body. My supercharger kit costed around $5500 i have the polished kit you dont have to get the polished you an just get the regular satin kit for like $4000-4500 check out vortechs site the supercharger i have is supposed to give 170 extraI
horsepower. the one without intercooler gives you 140. I like mine because its really quiet and people dont know i have it until its to late. its good for on the street because it doesnt really kick in until 3500rpms when your just cruisin. idont really know about the track but i heard there good but i never ran mine at the track yet. I would check into it i really like mine
