How much hp&PSI can 96 Cobra take
I'm looking into a 96 cobra, but before i commit myself i want to know the potential of it. How much horsepower can the stock engine take? I already know the block can take 1000 hp and same as the crank. I've herd that that the pistons and rods can only take about 450hp(correct me if i'm wrong).
I want to slap a KB Flowmaster w/AC on it so how PSI much can engine take? What would i need to upgrade in order to run about 12-16psi on it? Anything that i might need to do before i slap a blower on it? and finally how reliable is the Cobra engine, should i rebuild the egine before i slap a blower onto it( the car has 110,000 miles on it)?

To run that kind of boost you would have to forge the internals. A rebuild is simple once its all apart so why not anyway but i dont think its a must.
Its agreed that 8-10psi will run fine with a tune.

thnx man.
I'll just rebuild the engine when it decides to die on me. If its not broken don't fix it!!!! Does anybody have the KB or whipple supercharger and if you do what kind of numbers are you running? what are your mods? I want to hear axuall experiences both bad and good.

You should be able to run it with any supercharger... i mean 8 psi is still 8psi no matter what. the only thing the intercooler or aftercooler does is make it so u can run more boost safely by keeping temps lower.
