Default Ever heard of SLP?

Looking to do some mods on my 03' Cobra and I saw a package Summit is offering for my car to give it 575 hp. The kit includes headers, exhaust, new blower pulley and belt, mass flow air, Diablo Sport tuner. It comes from SLP. I don't want to put junk in my ride, anybody use this brand before?[sm=teetertooter.gif]

The 575 number is a bit ambitious and is a FLYWHEEL number, but in my experience they make high quality products and are better well known in the F-body community. I would not be afraid to buy any of their products though.

Nice stuff

I have their catback. Good quality products. May want to listen to a sound clip. The exhaust setup will be very LOUD especially with headers.

SLP makes a good product. But I am a bit skeptical about the HP gains. You will find very few Terminator owners that put headers on their snake. Especially long tubes. The reason is boost and torque loss at lower rpms. Many tuners believe these engines need a little back pressure for boost and torque in the lower rpm band. I have seen guys who loose a lb to a lb and a half of boost when they add an o/r pipe to their snake. The gain upper rwhp and loose low end, seat of the pants feel, torque. For a much lower price, you could add an upper/ lower pulley combo, get a good tune, a good catback, cai, and have more hp than the SLP claim.

I appreciate the advice. I still have about 7k miles left on my warranty, so when it is up, I will be doing the upgrades. I will let you know how it turns out. I may stay away from the headers if it will reduce my boost. I am only running about 6 or 7 lbs from the factory and would like to run about 10 or so. The whole point of changing pullys is to get more boost so why would I cancel that out with long tubes?

As far as the exhaust being loud, that will be fine, I don't trust a quiet car.

One more thing. What is a cai? I have seen that term before, but I am unsure what it is exactly. And just to make sure I am on the right page a "tune" is were I get a "custom tuner" and adjust my computer's settings right?
HEY........ they don't call us newbie's for nothin'!

You're correct on the tune and CAI (cold air intake) - K&N, BBK, C&L are all good systems.

Are all tuners the same? Some of them mugs are expensive! If I only had a friend with one already........? Or are they a one shot deal?

Make sure you do your research on a good, reputable tuner!! Otherwise, you could get a messed up tune and harm your car! There are a few real good tuners out there!! If you buy a tune from the guy who tunes my car, you get free updated tunes when you mod your car, no matter what the mods are!! That is his policy. I paid $125 for a custom tune! I then checked it on a dyno to recheck the air/fuel ratio and the timing. If the tune is a little off, either way, he will adjust it accordingly to keep your car safe with the most efficient power available! Most great tuners will do this!! They will stand behind their work 100%, If ya need anyhelp on anything, just drop me a p.m. I will be glad to help ya all that I can!
