Ok... so i just picked up a 99 cobra from one of my buddies for 2500 bucks... great condition but the motor was blown. My dad wants it to look all stock and he paid for it so i cant argue. I need to know what i should do. Should i rebuild the motor stock or what? If someone could help me out and show me a place where i can buy a rebuild kit for it that would be awesome. Money is a problem here because i have to pay him back for it and i dont make all that much. (im a high school student) A stock rebuild is plenty of power for me or if it would be better to stroke it out id love to do that... but like i said money is a problem... PLEASE HELP ME!!!

Great buy! Depends on what you want to do with it in the future. If you want minor bolt ons, then stock specs will do. If you want ot add boost (nitrous, turbo, supercharger) you will need to rebuild it with a different set of internal parts!! The stock internals of a 99-01 cobra are not forged and will break under boosted application (eventually) You can usually find a low mileage engine for sale at places like MPS in Ga.You are probably looking at around 2500 for a rebuild! i could do it , it costly though! heres mine i just sold. .020 pistions heads redone,sold to get an 03 cobra

You cant stroke a 4.6, but as for internals i would go ahead and buy forged. That way if down the road you will have an engine that is ready for a lot of boost. And im guessing aftermarket for these cars isnt much more than youd pay for the regular internals.
