If I were you, I would just pull the engine and look for a replacement. 94's was a 5.0 motor so unless you wanna stay with that, get the 03/04 Cobra motor and get a supercharger on top. Even if its still running, its just seen its good days a long time ago. Good luck.

wow, nice. Ford cars ARE built tough, sorry corney
im going with a t56 from a 03/04 cobra from D&D
for the motor either a 98 steel block holds around 900hp potential or a 03/04 cobra 1000+hp easy

Idle motor would cause that problem. I had a problem with mine for awhile but then I fixed it.
What I would do, is pull the engine, and put it on a stand. Then look for a crate engine to throw in the car for some decent performance and daily driving. Then slowly but surely build up the engine on the block into some nasty setup. Bore it out, knucklehead pistons, valvejob, rollercams, etc etc. Completely overhaul it. Then when your finished with it, you've got one hell of an engine, and you can sell the crate engine if you want to, and throw in your rebuilt monster 5.0.
Shouldnt be too expensive, 5.0 parts are fairly cheap compared to Cobra 4.6 parts. (I know that one from experience)
Buff her out, do a good detailing job on her insides, and she'll be good as new.

3500 isnt bad if the whole car is clean.... I mean Really what all is going to go wrong with it other than the engine or transmission. Both are cheap in these years. The 4.6 4v is a more expensive motor to rebuild and repair. as they arelike10000000000000000x morerare than your 5.0 to find somewhere. So You have a pretty good budget car there.

i've been reading all the post....sorry i haven't responded....
1) the drivers bucket bottom frame was cracked in 2 spots..it was the mag frame, not the standard steel one...so i rebuild it with a GT seat..would have liked to kept it original
2) installed a cold air intake, cleaned MAF...helped the idle alittle
3) IAC (ford) on the way
4) motor...decided to look for a 5.0 and swap it..and rebuild the original set up...no rush....
5) detailing the car
6) this car is my daughters ...picked it up as a daddy/ daughter project..one happy daughter, lots off fun
7) CAUGHT A BAD CASE OF MUSTANG FEVER !!!..she won't sell it to me !!!..LMAO
8)TRANNY: not sure yet...
9) HAPPY NEW YEAR.....
