Cat Removal, check engine light new twist
I know this has been discussed alot on here, but here's a new twist. I have a 99 Cobra with all the usual bolt-ons. I decided to remove the 2 larger cats by the h-pipe and keep the 2 small ones from the head pipe on the car. The check engine soon light never came on. I know the light is operable for something else that happened down the road, but once that problem was adressed the light never came back on. Any ideas why?
Also, has anyone on here done the swap on the eaton from 03-04 to a 99 or 01, I hear a lot of conflicting stories on what is exactly involved.
Thanks

RE: Cat Removal, check engine light new twist
Yeah, I along with every other mustang owner have had problems with that whole oxygen sensor thing after a cat swap... Never heard of it just going away though... Seems like with what you did you might still have your sensors in place. The only logical explaination that I can come up with is that your computer adjusted your tune and made the error go away. But, that is one that goes over my head... As far as the Eaton blower installation is concerned... I have read a bunch of stuff about what it would take as well. I wanted to do that move with my '97, but for "those" years it would just plain be impossible. That lead me to looking at the Kenne Bell. If you haven't looked at that alternative you aught to. There would be no question with what you would get and you could do it for relatively cheep (considering that you don't have to rebuild your engine and all)... Turned out that I had to blow all of my blower money on getting the car fully road worthy, so I can't tell you about my experience with it (at least not until next year).... Just thought that I would have to chime in...
