i have a 97 cobra what would i run with some 3.90 gears and some mickey thompson street et radials the 275/40/17s.i seen a mach one run a 12.7 with some street drags and a k @ n intake i think thats all it had.

i very much doubt a mach 1 with just an intake ran a 12.7. try again.

Depending on your driving ability, powershifting?, track prep, how aggressive you are willing to launch the car, you could run low 13's. Be careful though MT's have no problems snapping a stock axle.

i thought that the 99 and up only had the problem of snaping the axels

Yes, the IRS is more fragile, but trust me a hard launch in a 3500 lb mustang with good track prep and a quality DR can snap an axle easily. Not ment to worry you just a heads up. It would be real easy to throw a set of Moser 31 splines in there while you are getting the gears done. Sounds like you are wanting to run hard so, food for thought.
