Ok heres the deal, I pick my brother in law up everyday from work on my way home. One of the guys that works with him has a 2002 roush stage 3. What do you guys think. You think he can take me. He has done nothing to it. Its a convertable so its heavier than the normal roush. I got out of the car yesterday and he walked past me and said "nice car, im the one with the roush" then i said you want to run it. He looked at me stupid and pointed at the cobra and said "is it supercharged?" i said no its a 99. He just turned and walked away. I know i can launch hard and kick his a s s . The roush is going to have a hard time hooking up off of the line. Thats were the infamous cobra irs comes into play, i launch this car everyday and i dont even get one hint of wheel hop or spin. What do you think. My bro in law thinks the roush can take me. I also have a 91 gt with a vortech supercharger.

What can you run? the best time i have seen a stage three is about 12.5 all stock. They will usually run 12.8's. But they respond well to upgrades with that supercharger. Horsepower: 360 @ 5250 rpm
Torque: 375 @ 3000 rpm The stage three stock will hook up great with the tires, and the suspension. IRS is not for a strait line race, solids are better. But i think you could take him with a couple more upgrades, and if your a good driver. a VERY good driver

I would take the Stage 3 over the 99 Cobra. My car is identical to the Stage 3, with full exhaust and 2.8 pulley and is around 370 rwhp. With a good pair of drag radials, the car will have no problem launching. If you add a few bolt on's, it would become a driver's race.

yea but what else is done to the roush other than the blower. and suspension. I raced a couple before i stayed side by side from a roll.

maybe with a couple more bolt ons you could take him, right now you should be able to hang with him though. good luck

I have a 99 Cobra too and I know what your saying about launching.. I think the 99s are matched perfect for the IRS.. They have just the right amount of HP to launch hard and yet not spin..

However..

I am also aware of their lack of power.. Yes, you will probably pull in 1st gear but after that you will be cooked.. By the end of second the Roush will have passed you and 3rd & 4th will be even worse.. The Roush won't have to launch hard in first because his 2nd - 4th and pure traction gears and when he plants the extra 70 (or more) HP your done for..

anyway we pull out on us 19 in clearwater. We take off from a 20mph roll. We take off and i pull on him at first. Then all i heard was the whinning of the blower then he passed me. then when i hit 3rd i started gaining a little then it was over. he one
