Default 04 cobra

I have a 2.75 pulley on my 04 cobra and have noticed that I'm getting belt shavings under the blower pulley. I was wondering if anyone has ever encountered the same problem.

Is it a non slip pulley?
They are good at eating belts.
Belt dust is normal.
A ton of belt dust is not normal.
I have a little dust on mine.
When I had a non slip pulley I had much more dust.

A good non-slip pulley (ie. Reichard Racing) will NOT destroy a belt if installed properly. I've had discussions about this with Jim Reichard. The only reason a non-slip pulley will destroy a belt is if it is installed backwards or out of alignment (causing the edge of the belt to begin to climb the edge). If the pulley is installed properly it will absolutely not shred a belt.

Minor belt dust is indeed normal. An abnormal amount of belt dust is caused by a belt on a setup that either doesn't use auxiliary idlers (for increased belt wrap) or an incorrect size. Gatorback belts will also produce more belt dust than Gates belts due to their design.

I used Reichard Racing UltraGrip (non-slip) pullies on my '03 Cobra and never had belt dust issues. That was over an 18 month period, both with a 2.90 and 2.80 upper.

This is funny i suped up my moms buick park ave ultra (chevy 3800 v6 with a supercharger on it). I put a 2.75 pully on it and underdrive pulleys and intake and exhaust ( flowmaster super 40 cut in to keep the stock look. This beast only lasted about another year due to the belt snapping once a month and getting overheated cause the water pump wont turn when the belt is not on. LOL that car would wine like a mother when you jumped on it. It ran 7.89 in the 8th of a mile. LOL just though i would share it.

I found that using a high quality belt, such as the Gates brand, will also help. Much better than a Gatorback in my opinion.
