Default cobra of gt?

I need some feed back. Im looking at buying a new mustang. I had a 96 gt a year ago and was not please with the performance. The car was basically stock except for an aftermarket exhaust and gears. I have to use the car for everyday use meaning (school and work). however i dont want to get sick of it. I want the car to be fun and fast with the most efficient gas miliage. This is the problem im looking at spending 16k or less and i like the 99 and up body style. Im looking at a 01 cobra for 15k with a full stereo and exhaust, 68kmilage(private party). IS IT WORTH IT? My other choice would be a gt from a dealership. the gt's have been going for around 13k with low miliage.

Does anyone have any ideas? what wouold i be best doing?
and are cobras that much better?

I would say get the 01 Cobra try talking them down a little bit I just got rid of my 96 GT I was not pleased with it at all. I meen it was a nice daily driver it was in good shape but gave me a sh** load of problems and stuff kept going wrong and I got tired of dumping money into it and cut my loses. I am very pleased with my 01 Cobra its my daily driver and it's decent stock performance wise big difference from the non PI pig 96 GT and I cant wait to start modding. Good luck

Go Big or Go Home... You should get the '01 cobra. thats the way to go. i bought my '99 cobra a week ago and its my daily driver and its so nice. it always a differant experience everytime i start it up. i got my 99 for $11k so yeah talk him down a little.

and privet party is the better way, i think.

you can get the cobra and drive it daily with no problem and i'm sure you'll love it (going from a non-pi GT to a 01 cobra), but the heads on the cobra are far superior to the GT and you'll find more efficiency out of them in the long run. you could probably talk him down a grand or 2

I was debating between an 01 gt and a 97 cobra. I got the cobra and havn't ever questioned my decision.
