new cobra, some questions? SN95
Ok so i just picked up a 1997 cobra with 110,000 miles. It in almost perfect condition. I do have a few questions though. First off i think the brakes are making some kinda rattling noise, the guy siad its somwat normal wiht cobras, should i fix this? Also when i take off in first it seem to vibrate in the rear, is that the tires trying to get traction or something messed up. Last question i want it to be a daily driver with a little more perfomance, give me some suggestions(no nitrous, superchargers, turbos)or brands to get.

Is the rattling noise when your braking? or just driving? ive never heard of "brakes rattling cuz its a cobra" ...is your rear end vibrating when your romping on it? if so, it could be traction and giving you wheelhop. For me, my 98 is a daily driver... i opted to do suspension first... just cuz i like to be able to whip off ramps and such, but if you want power you i would say build the motor up b4 you supercharge it and do a h/c/i

I had a 97 cobraand now have a 03 cobra. I would agree that the clips that hold the pads are letting the brake pads rattle. The vibration could be caused by drive shaft try indexing it(rotating to the next position) A few good upgrades are gears 373's are great in this year cobra, cai jlt, tuneable inductions, k&n. Mgw shifter will help with the weak link in the t-45 tranny. Hope this helps.

this rattling accually happened to me. I had a 04 cobra and I put aftermarket brakes on it. After we put them on they seemed to work fine but, when I went over a crappy road or some bumps they would make a rattle noise. I called ford to see what the problem was and they said that because I put in aftermarket brakes that it was going to do this and the only way to fix it was to put ford brand brakes back on. Well ford brand brakes were twice the price of what I pad for the aftermarket ones so I said screw that. Your telling me I can't even put anything but ford brakes on my car and the car said "yes only ford stuff". So I went to a auto parts store and I got a "brake hardware kit" and it came with these clips that weren't included in the brakes that I bought. So I put them on and BOOM they stop rattling. So I don't know if this helps or if this is the exact problem your having but, if it is then this is how you fix it.

Ya that helps, im going to autozone now to get a brake hardware kit. So about the parts im thinking about. I was thinking of getting a O/R h pipe wiht the stock catback, do you think that would make a diffrence? I like a somewhat quiet exhaust, but still would like it a little louder than stock. Also i was thinking about the c&l intake.

Yep I had problems with the rattling, and rotor/pad squeal. The rattling stopped hwen I tightened down the clips but I think it was coming back before I took the car off the road.
Idk Ill have to see when I put her back on.
