What do you guys do with the rear ends?
Looks like im breaking down and buying a Cobra ( 2003 Sonic Blue with steig ported blower, x pipe, catback, intake, pulley , cooling mods etc) off a friend of mine. He hasnt done any of the mods to the IRS and being that i go to the track on a weekly basis pretty much, i thought i should get on this. How many of you swap to a solid rear as opposed to modding the IRS? I would like to keep the IRS if possible tho. What IRS mods would be best for a few trips down the 1/8th or 1/4th? every week?

+1 to above. IMO, keep the IRS unless you just want a full blown all out track car. The IRS is nice if you just build it up a lil bit. Here is the list of mods that I'll be doing on mine to keep it from blowing up on me....
Billetflow irs brace
Max. Motorsports FLSFC's
Goodyear G3-DS 315'S
H&R race springs
Level 5 halfshafts
irs bushings
UCA bushings
LCA bushings
That should pretty much get rid of your wheel hop and still have a nice ride and still be good at the track.

i saw 3 cobra IRS's get blown up last year at the track, it just makes me a little nervious, i just want to be able to launch on DR's and not have to worry about getting AAA to tow me home

People break things in their IRS because they don't LET OFF the throttle when they have wheel hop. Then people break half shafts from launching to high/hard.
The IRS brace will help protect your IRS from wheel hop, and level 5 half shafts would allow you to launch harder/higher.

I would honestly suggest maybe starting off with street tires until you get a couple of suspension parts on there before you start launching with DR's. Some guys can get by with it, while others don't. The BF brace will work great for you, and like PWorldStang said... if it hops, just get out of it and play with the throttle. Your gonna have problems hookin up in 1st gear cuz I really have a hard time myself right now. The rwhp on that car is close to mine so 1st and sometimes 2nd your gonna be spinning.
By the way... take a look at this link, it should help you out alot on what you can do to "beef" up your IRS.

+1 to what everyone else has posted except thatI would leave the halfshafts for last...they're expensive Actually I wouldn't get them at all unless you'll be launching like a **** every other weekend.
PS. it is unlikely you'll completely get rid of the wheel hop so just be prepared once you do all the buying/installation. I was dissappointed in my first test drive thinking it would be gone forever.
